Cause and Effect Model

Updated: Mar 11

Review the diagram below. The question mark indicates the potential connections between the two boxes. Consider what those connections might be.

  1. Make a copy of the handout or get one from your teacher.

  2. Work with your group to:

    1. Identify the local phenomenon you have been investigating.

    2. Add words or pictures that show the connection between greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and the local phenomenon.

  3. Then on your own, using notebook paper

    1. Write an explanation for the following prompt: How are increases in greenhouse gases connected to our local phenomenon?

    2. Give and receive feedback to a partner.

    3. Revise: After seeing the peer review of your work, what would you want to add to your explanation?

    4. Reflect: How did the peer feedback process help improve your thinking or communication of ideas?
