Mixed Solutions Design Challenge

Use the interactive to combine and test at least three combinations of solutions. Try to find a combination that will


  • meet the projected goal in 2050 (785-835 GtC), 

  • include solutions that reduce carbon emissions AND solutions that maximize taking carbon out of the atmosphere, and 

  • is feasible for individuals and/or communities to implement.


Consult the solution information icon for more information about the benefits and challenges of each solution.


  1. Make a copy of the handout or get one from your teacher.

  2. Use the interactive to complete Part 1 of your handout. 

  3. As you run each scenario, record notes and details that you can use as evidence in your argument (Part 2 of the handout).
