Burning Fuels Lab

Updated: Feb 19

View a lab to investigate the gases that could be produced when we burn fossil fuels. The question we are investigating is: What goes into the air from burning fossil fuels that could be related to temperature rise?

As you view the video of the lab investigation, record your observations and findings on the handout.

  1. Make a copy of the handout or get one from your teacher.

  2. Read the procedures (left side of the table). Ask questions about the procedures.

  3. Complete the investigation. Pay attention to the right column of your handout. This is where you will write your observations. The shaded boxes will remain empty.

  4. Discuss questions with your group and record your ideas.

  5. Be prepared to discuss your results and answers to the discussion questions with the class.
